Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s road repair award of Rs 2 lakh will be presented at the first ever Road Repair and Repair (RRR) Awards at the National Road Transport Conference in Delhi.
The award is given to those who have contributed to the improvement of the public roads by repairing them, which is termed a road maintenance award.
“It is the first time that a road repair is being presented to an individual and I am very happy to be the recipient of the award,” said Arvind, who has been awarded the award.
He added that it was the first award to be presented by the AAP, after its entry into power.
The AAP’s Road Transport and Public Works Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who is in attendance, had tweeted that the award was given to a road worker from his village.
Mr Kejriwal said the award will be shared among the people of Delhi and other cities.
“The award will also be shared between the Delhi Government, the Delhi Traffic Police and the Railway Board,” he said.
“As we have said many times, our priority is to ensure public safety, ease of travel and the health and well-being of the people,” he added.
The Delhi Chief Secretary, Dinesh Goel, tweeted that he was “delighted” at the announcement of the awards.
“I am thrilled that a man of my stature has been recognised by the State government for his hard work on the Delhi-NCR corridor and for providing an excellent service to the people, especially the elderly and the disabled.
I am grateful to the man for his sacrifice and I look forward to his presentation at the RRR Awards in Delhi,” he tweeted.
