Road closures in the City of Sydney have been in place since Sunday afternoon, with police and emergency services responding to road and rail issues and other public emergencies.
Road closures are expected to remain in place throughout the day.
The NSW Police Commissioner said the road closures were a result of a range of issues including power outages and flooding.
“Due to the number of traffic incidents, there has been a number of road closures in relation to road repairs and safety issues,” Commissioner Brad Hazzard said.
He said police were taking the incident in the CBD seriously and were working with contractors and contractors’ staff to identify the root cause.
Emergency services are also monitoring the situation around the Sydney Opera House.
Sydney Opera House police have said the Opera House is still open.
